Shannon Konecny is a Licensed Professional Counselor at the Depression and Anxiety Specialty Clinic of Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree in both Psychology and Sociology from DePaul University. She then went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University- School of Professional Psychology. Ms. Konecny has worked with diverse populations and presenting problems including personality disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, substance use, OCD, relational issues and gambling.
Ms. Konecny has over 7 years of experience working in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, IOP, PHP, and substance abuse treatment centers. Her internship experience consisted of providing individual, group, and family therapy therapy at The Way Back Inn, a residential home for individuals recovering from co-occurring substance abuse and mood disorders. Prior to joining DASC, Ms. Konecny was a team leader for a Community Support Team at Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare where she supervised staff on her team and was the primary therapist for individuals with mood and personality disorders.
Ms. Konecny approaches all of her clinical work with humor, warmth and authenticity. She seeks to establish a genuine and open rapport while helping clients adapt and accept their circumstances. Ms. Konecny utilizes and adapts empirically validates treatments such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing. Ms. Konecny is committed to receiving ongoing training and consultation in evidence-based practices.
